Tutorial

A dragon’s hoard is a fickle thing. It must be defended from adventurers, and yet the gold those adventurers bring is the very thing that lets it grow. Too many brave heroes and your treasure gets taken away. Too few, and it is left forgotten to the sands of time.

Dungeon of the Dragon is a tower defense game in which you play as a dragon designing the perfect dungeon. Your goal is not necessarily to kill all who enter, rather to maintain the delicate balance of a challenge which would-be heroes think they can pass. Those who escape with gold in hand will spread word of your treasure throughout the kingdom, attracting more foolhardy adventurers into your trap.

Traps

Level 1 Traps deal 1d8 damage and reset in 2 turns.

Level 2 Traps deal 2d8 damage and reset every 4 turns.

Level 3 Traps deal 4d8 damage and reset every 8 turns.

Coins

Coins are represented as:

coins you have in your hoard + coins being carried by adventurers

Only coins in the hoard can be spent, and coins carried by adventurers go back to the hoard if they die.

Reputation

Reputation is an overall measure of how highly your dungeon is regarded throughout the land.

Low reputation means that your dungeon is seen as a great challenge; fewer adventurers will attempt to take your treasure, and those who do tend to be stronger.

High reputation means that your dungeon is seen as a great opportunity; more adventurers will attempt to take on your dungeon, and those who do tend to be weaker.

Your reputation changes based on how many adventurers you kill vs how many you let go. Killing an adventurer lowers your reputation. Allowing an adventurer to escape raises your reputation, with more reputation gained the more gold they escape with.

Time

As time passes, the heroes you attract become slightly stronger, but also carry with them slightly more gold.

Losing

You lose the game when your dungeon becomes unviable -either the last piece of gold is taken and adventurers have no more reason to brave the challenge, or your reputation drops to zero and no one is willing to risk it.
